Samsung heir sentenced to five years in prison for bribery and perjury



Samsung might have a big winner in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, but the acting chairman of the company could be spending the next five years in prison. Lee Jae-yong, the heir to the Samsung empire and the third richest man in South Korea, was convicted of perjury and bribery. Donations made by Lee to foundations run by a person close to former South Korean president Park Geun-hye, were considered to be bribes as he sought certain political favors in exchange for the large payments. Park was later impeached and removed as president on charges of "influence peddling."
