Xiaomi Mi 6C could be the first to pack the octa-core Surge S2 chipset


Xiaomi's in-house Surge S1 chipset made its debut inside the Mi 5c early this year, but the Chinese company is already planning an improved version, which is expected to be unveiled later this year.

The Surge S2 is said to be another octa-core chipset that will accommodate eight cores running at various speeds: 2.2GHz quad-core A73 and 1.8GHz quad-core A53. Unlike Surge S1 which is built on 28nm manufacturing process, the new Surge S2 is said to use 16nm process technology.
