Apple to have home-made state-of-the-art iPhone power management chips within two years

So, when it comes to batteries in phones, there's more to it than just slapping a cell inside the device's trunk and hoping for the best. In order to ensure long battery life as well as healthy charging and a maximum amount of cycles, all phones have a power-management chip in them, which helps with proper charging and discharging.

All that said, this far, Apple has been using a 3rd party chip maker — Dialog Semiconductor — to provide its power-management processors. However, this may change in the next 2 years.
