Android Pie still a no-show in latest distribution numbers; Oreo adoption reaches new high


The Android distribution numbers for October are in, and, rather disappointingly, Android 9 Pie is still missing from the chart.

According to the latest data, Oreo is now the second most prevalent version of Android. It sits on a total of 21.5% of devices, an increase of 2.3 percentage points in just one month. Marshmallow, the former number 2, now occupies the third spot with 21.3%. As for Nougat, the 2016 version of Android still takes the biggest slice of the pie with a combined 28.1%, which is actually a rather hefty decline over September’s 29.3%.
