Huawei could become world's number one smartphone vendor next year

Founded in 1987 and originally focused on manufacturing phone switches, Huawei gradually expanded into various other profitable business areas, including networking and telecommunications equipment, as well as handsets and eventually Android smartphones.

The company only started making mobile phones in 2004, when Nokia was already the booming market’s dominant leader, followed by Motorola and Samsung, today’s heavyweight industry champion.
