First leaked Galaxy Note 9 hands-on video confirms conservative design

It may feel like we already know everything there is to know about Samsung’s as-yet-unreleased Galaxy Note 9, and in theory, that might even be true, between all the leaked pictures and renders, detailed availability information revealed over the past few days, and a spec sheet that hasn’t been a secret for a long time now.

But we’ve actually been missing a key piece of this extensive puzzle, as the Galaxy Note 9 never showed up on video to offer a complete view, front and back, of its largely repetitive design. Until ...

Qualcomm wants to see the Intel chips inside the 2018 iPhones

You have probably heard about the Apple-Intel-Qualcomm court intrigue that's been going on for a while now. In case you haven't, here's a rough round-up: Last year Apple sued Qualcomm, saying it wants too much money to license its products to Apple. Qualcomm decided to retaliate by suing Apple for patent infringement, going as far as seeking a ban on sales of iPhones in the States. Then Apple decided to strike back by choosing Intel for some of its parts instead of Qualcomm. Qualcomm suspects Intel is now also infringing on its patents and wants to see technical information about Intel's chips ...

Apple to put the iPad on notice with split-screen iPhone X Plus multitasking

Back in the spring, Bloomberg tipped the eventual resolution of the upcoming 6.5" X Plus - the largest iPhone screen ever. "The phablet is codenamed D33, a person familiar with its development says, and at least some prototypes include a screen resolution of 1242 x 2688," revealed an insider at the time, and, lo and behold, that's exactly the resolution dug out deep from the iOS 12 beta code by some lucky Brazilian programmers.

They forced 1242 x 2688 in the iOS 12 emulator with the new beta 5, and suddenly apps like Calendar or Messages appeared in split-screen mode, ...

YouTube app getting new swipe gesture on Android soon

Google plans to bring yet another improvement to its YouTube app to make things easier for Android users. Apparently, there's a new swipe gesture available that will allow YouTube users to swipe left and right through videos.

The new gesture isn't available to everyone, but a limited number of Android users have been invited to test it. If you want to check if you're among the selected few, you can simply open YouTube and see if you can swipe left/right from the home tab.

Since Google has just begun testing the new gesture it will probably take some time until it makes it ...

Apple Pay has its sights set on CVS and 7-Eleven, as well as Germany

Apple had another tremendous quarter between April and June 2018, but with both iPad and Mac revenue on a year-over-year decline, and iPhone unit sales mostly flat, the company’s “services” and “other products” categories were largely responsible for the latest expectation-exceeding financial results.

Apple Pay is, of course, an integral part of the Services division, continuing its slow but steady rise to global ubiquity and domination of the thriving digital wallet market. After detailing that impressive new financial report yesterday, CEO Tim Cook unveiled the next country added to the ...
