Xiaomi could be about to go public with $10 Billion IPO

Xiaomi’s initial public offering could be just around the corner. It was reported earlier this month that Xiaomi could file an IPO in Hong Kong in May based on a valuation of $70 billion. And now, according to new information, it appears Xiaomi will be seeking to raise as much as $10 billion once it goes public.

If this is true, it would make Xiaomi’s IPO the largest of 2018 so far, with the company’s listing expected to take place on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Unlike streaming giant Spotify, though, Xiaomi is set to take a much more traditional approach to going public, with a ...

Honor 7X starts receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update in the US

As expected, Honor 7X is now getting the highly-anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo update. The mid-ranger that's supposed to appeal to consumers interested in mid-tier handsets made its debut in the United States earlier this year.

When the smartphone was introduced in the US, Honor promised to offer an Android 8.0 Oreo update to those who purchase the Honor 7X. Starting today, the Chinese company is rolling out the Android Oreo update based on EMUI 8.0 to all Honor 7X units in the US.

However, the update is rolled out in batches, so based on the IMEI number, you might get the update sooner ...

Rowkin Surge Charge hands-on

Rowkin's first new true wireless offering for the year is the Surge Charge, which is essentially the Rowkin Charge before it, but with an included battery charging case. In looking at the two models, they're one and the same considering they feature the same design.

Thankfully, this time around we're presented with an actual battery charging case, which definitely comes in handy when it comes to storing them when they're not being used, as well as actively charging them. With last year's Rowkin Charge, we were a bit annoyed that it didn't come with anything at all – including a ...

Razer Phone Android 8.1 Oreo update rollout on hold due to issues

Razer announced a while ago that it will not offer an Android 8.1 Oreo update to those who bought the Razer Phone, which comes with Nougat on board. However, the company promised the smartphone will be updated directly to Android 8.1 Oreo at some point.

True to its promise, Razer started the Android 8.1 Oreo rollout two weeks ago, but the update has yet to reach some markets. Unfortunately, things don't look so good for Razer Phone owners in the UK, as one carrier announced the update has been delayed.

According to UK carrier Three, Razer confirmed that Android 8.1 Oreo for Razer ...

The OnePlus 6 could cost as much $600 according to reliable source

The OnePlus 6 looks set to become the most expensive OnePlus device so far. It has been rumored for some time now that the OnePlus 6 would continue the company’s trend of pushing its prices upwards and, thanks to information revealed by a reliable source to True Tech, this appears to have been confirmed.

The source in question previously provided the Indian pricing of last year’s OnePlus 5 ahead of its official debut and, if the information provided is once again accurate, the OnePlus 6’s pricing looks set to kick off at Rs. 36,999, or $555. This price would be related to the entry model, ...

Today's list include two high priced apps. One, Double Word Pad, is normally priced at $11.99 and allows you to upload, edit, ...

Deal: Save $450 on Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Note 8

As of earlier this month, Verizon Wireless allows customers to save $300 on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, with no trade-in required. What you may not know is that you can save even more on Verizon's Note 8 if you're purchasing the phone from Best Buy.

In addition to Verizon's $300 off promotion, Best Buy offers a $150 instant discount on the Galaxy Note 8. However, this is available only on monthly payments for 24 months, with savings reflected in reduced monthly costs: instead of $39 per month, you're paying just $20.25.

Samsung starts working on Android Oreo update for the Galaxy A8 (2018)

We've been reporting about various Samsung smartphones that are expected to receive Android 8.0 Oreo updates in the coming weeks, but the Galaxy A8 (2018) hasn't been mentioned in any of our previous reports.

The reason is pretty obvious: Samsung hasn't started working on Android Oreo for the Galaxy A8 (2018), so it couldn't provide an ETA like it did with the Galaxy S7/S7 edge and other Galaxy A series smartphones.

However, we now have two different sources that confirm Samsung has finally started working on Android Oreo update for the Galaxy A8 (2018), a smartphone that's been released ...

Samsung's Galaxy S9 sales hit record-lows in South Korea, iPhone X too

A new report claims the latest flagships from Samsung and Apple are seeing record-low sales in South Korea. It has previously been reported a number of times that Apple has been forced to cut iPhone X orders due to lower-than-expected demand, and this appears to have spread to South Korea. Unfortunately for Samsung, however, its brand also appears to be tackling weak demand.

According to the data obtained by ET News, Apple managed to shift just 475,000 units of the iPhone X via the major South Korean carriers over the course of its first four months, with a peak of 163,000 devices in December ...

Samsung lists the Galaxy A6 and A6+ on its official website with full specs in tow

Samsung is about to officially introduce the Galaxy A6 and A6+, two mid-range Android smartphones that are likely to make their debut in Asia. There's no doubt that they will be available worldwide at some point, but chances are Samsung won't bring them to the US.

Even though they haven't been unveiled yet, Samsung has already listed the Galaxy A6 and A6+ on its official website, so we know most of their specs. The only things that are left to determine are when they will be available for purchase and how much they will cost.

Still, there's no doubt that ...

Analyst says Apple will leave the headphone adapter out of the box for the 2018 iPhone models

As you might have figured out by now, every securities house and bank that buys and sells stock, whether for themselves or for clients, has an analyst that is focused on Apple. That isn't surprising considering that the company is the most valuable publicly traded firm in the world. Today, Barclay's Blayne Curtis wrote a note to clients stating that he doesn't expect Apple to include a Lighting to 3.5mm headphone jack dongle in the box with the 2018 iPhone models. ""We currently model no dongle this year," the analyst said in his note.

Last year, Barclays correctly predicted that Apple would ...

Samsung launches Galaxy S9 128 GB and 256 GB in the US

Samsung just announced that it's ready to officially release upgraded variants of its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ phones in the US. More exactly, we're talking about S9 and S9+ versions with 128 GB and 256 GB of storage space, which will be available to pre-order starting tomorrow, May 1.

The new Galaxy S9 and S9+ models will properly go on sale on May 18, exclusively at Samsung, so it doesn't look like any carrier has plans to sell them. The smartphones will be offered unlocked, with three color options available: Midnight Black, Lilac Purple, and Coral Blue. ...

Kernel source code for the Moto G6 Play released by Motorola

Earlier this month, Motorola unveiled the Moto G6 line, which includes the G6, G6 Plus and G6 Play. While the whole G6 series is now offered in Brazil and Mexico, sometime over the next few months the G6 and G6 Play will be coming to the states. For those who like to develop custom ROMs, Motorola has released the kernel source code for the Moto G6 Play. So far, we can't say the same thing about the G6 or G6 Plus.

The kernel source code for the Moto G6 Play can be found on GitHub as "aljeter" and "jeter." Those who like to flash custom ROMs on their handsets will be happy to see the code ...

Buy a Samsung Gear Sport, get any wristband for free

Over the weekend, Samsung lowered the prices of its Gear S3 and Gear Sport watches by $70, so the devices are now cheaper than ever. As of today, Samsung is offering an extra gift to Gear Sport buyers - a free wristband (in addition to the band that comes with the watch by default).

The free Gear Sport wristband is available only if you're buying the smartwatch directly from Samsung - see the source link below. When you add the watch to your shopping cart, you'll be prompted to add your extra wristband, too.

LG "Q Note" trademark suggests smartphone with stylus could be in the works

LG could be preparing a new stylus-equipped smartphone according to a new trademark filing. The South Korean company’s last attempt at a device featuring a stylus came nearly one year ago, with the launch of the LG Stylo 3 Plus. According to a trademark for the “Q Note” name by the company, however, it appears LG could be readying another stylus-equipped device.

Currently, the LG Q line of devices is relatively new, with the company introducing its first series of smartphones last year, in the form of the LG Q6 and Q8. These acted as the company’s mid-range offerings throughout the year ...

Sprint's merger will create а... new T-Mobile, how do you feel about that?

Tucked in T-Mobile CEO's memo to employees about the decision to merge with Sprint, is that the resulting third-largest carrier that will be breathing down AT&T's neck like never before, will be again... T-Mobile:

The New T-Mobile will have the network capacity to rapidly create a nationwide 5G network with the breadth and depth needed to enable U.S. firms and entrepreneurs to continue to lead the world in the coming 5G era, as U.S. companies did in 4G. The new company will be able to light up a broad and deep 5G network faster than either company could separately. ...

Google co-founder Sergey Brin is cautious about the future of AI

The future of AI seems bright, but developments in the field need to be handled with great care and responsibility, warns Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google.

Beginning his annual Founders' letter with a quote from Charles Dicken's "A Tale of Two Cities", Alphabet's President and Google's Co-founder wrote: "The new spring in AI is the most significant development in computing in my lifetime. Every month, there are stunning new applications and transformative new techniques. But such powerful tools also bring with them new questions and responsibilities."

Samsung confirms plans to release Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Oreo updates by mid-May

It looks like we're just a few weeks away from the release of the long-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge. Not long ago, a Turkish website handled by Samsung said the update will be launched in mid-May, but the information may have been deemed unreliable by many since the same website initially said it would be available much earlier.

Well, it appears that the reason the initial information wasn't accurate is that these schedules may change according to the development and approval procedures, which is why we're now looking at a mid-May timeframe for the release ...

Sprint's merger will create the... new T-Mobile, how do you feel about that?

Tucked in T-Mobile CEO's memo to employees about the decision to merge with Sprint, is how the resulting third-largest carrier that will be breathing down AT&T's neck like never before, will be referred to.

What's in a name? Well, how does... T-Mobile sound to you? If you think it's not fair that the Un-carrier is usurping both the title and the leadership, as far as Sprint goes, just remember that in the fall, the deal fell through precisely because Sprint's chairman wasn't happy ceding that much control.

New image of BlackBerry KEYone sequel surfaces; phone to be named KEY2?

After months of hearing practically nothing about the sequel for the BlackBerry KEYone, information about the phone is pouring out. One image comes from weibo, and is in the form of a split screen photograph covered with cute stickers. The picture on the ...

Want the cheapest unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 8? Buy it from Microsoft

The official US version of the Galaxy Note 8 normally costs $950 unlocked, but Samsung is currently taking $100 off the smartphone's price, offering it for $850. However, if you want the best deal on the unlocked Note 8, you shouldn't buy the device from Samsung. Get it from Microsoft instead.

Right now, Microsoft is selling the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 for just $829.99. Obviously, that's not a huge discount, but the handset is still $20 cheaper than at Samsung. This is the lowest unlocked Galaxy Note 8 price we've seen thus far (as long as we're talking about the ...

Here's the memo John Legere sent to T-Mobile employees today informing them about the Sprint merger

Even though it was fairly obvious that T-Mobile would be the surviving entity in any merger with Sprint, you can be sure that some of the carrier's employees had been nervous ever since the rumor mill yelled loudly that a transaction was just days away. For those of you who spent the entire afternoon watching LeBron and missed the news, T-Mobile is merging with Sprint in an all-stock deal valued at $26.5 billion. And this evening, a letter written by T-Mobile CEO John Legere, informing T-Mobile employees about the merger, has leaked.

The biggest concerns (which were shared by both ...

Holy Motherf&*$@# Batman, Siri talks like a truck driver (VIDEO-NSFW)

Siri, Siri, Siri. What are we going to do with you? You're beginning to act like one of those bad girls that appear on Dr. Phil's show, ending up in some rehab in Texas. And Siri, your performance lately has been abysmal. You recently finished last in a test among your peers like Google Assistant, Cortana and Alexa. And yes, we know you're tired of hearing about Alexa. Actually, we are surprised that you just don't randomly say "Alexa, Alexa, Alexa" in the same manner as Jan Brady's iconic cry, "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia."

So here's what's up with Siri. She has a filthy XXX rated mouth. ...

Xfinity Mobile loses $189 million during the first quarter despite adding 196,000 new subscribers

Xfinity Mobile, owned by cable giant Comcast, has reported its first quarter earnings report. During the three month period ended in March, Xfinity Mobile lost $189 million, which is a sizeable chunk of change. At the same time, the company added 196,000 new subscribers. Comcast doesn't have to spend to build out a network, and sells its wireless service and phones from Xfinity stores already selling cable and internet. This might be a clue that Comcast is pricing Xfinity Mobile as a loss leader so that the company can push cable, internet and home phone service to its mobile subscribers.

Xfinity ...

Samsung dominates Indian flagship sales during Q1 2018, OnePlus follows in second

Samsung is once again number one in the Indian flagship smartphone segment. Despite recently losing its Indian crown to Xiaomi, Samsung is still the flagship king in the Asian market, accounting for a whopping 50% of all smartphone sales in the country during Q1 2018.

The company’s premium shipments were led heavily by its most recent flagships, the Galaxy S9 and S9+. These devices accounted for a total of 29% of all high-end sales during the period ending March 31, with the smaller variant equating for a 12% market share and the Plus-sized model proving to be the more popular of the two ...

Say goodbye to Sprint as the yellow and black gets replaced by magenta

With the news today that T-Mobile plans on merging with Sprint in a transaction valued at $26.5 billion, this could be the end of the road for the Sprint name. The merged company will be known as T-Mobile and will be run at the top by the latter's John Legere. T-Mobile parent Deutsche Bank will own 42% of the carrier, and Sprint parent SoftBank will control 27%. The public will own the remaining 31%. The deal, which still requires regulatory approval, will reduce the number of major U.S. wireless operators by 25%.

T-Mobile, Sprint combine in $26.5 billion merger

After all of those years of teasing and flirting, T-Mobile and Sprint are finally getting married. The $26.5 billion merger of the nation's third largest and fourth largest carriers will enable the combined company to better compete with Verizon and AT&T, the numbers one and two stateside wireless operators, respectively. The T-Mobile name will be used for the merged firm, and it will be led by T-Mobile's feisty John Legere, who will keep CEO duties. His right hand man, Mike Sievert, will keep the COO title. The chairman of T-Mobile parent Deutsche Bank, Tom Hoettges, will have that role at ...

I switched my $1000 iPhone X for a $200 phone and it was not all that surprising

I've been using the iPhone X as a daily driver since November, finding it predictably solid as all the previous iPhones I've used through the years. There's very little to complain about it, seeing that it's rich with most of today's cutting-edge features, it captures some stunning portrait shots with its dual cameras, and it just operates at a higher level than most of its contemporaries. But there's just one thing that I can't fathom: its $1000 starting price.

I didn't personally buy this iPhone. The cost alone would cause me to reconsider forking over that sum of money. ...

With Apple iPhone X sales fading, Apple could be about to make a big bet on content

This coming Tuesday, May 1st, Apple will report the results of its fiscal second quarter which ended in March. As we told you last week, Wall Street is in "full panic mode," when it comes to the most valuable public company in the world. The stock dropped over 8% in a series of three days last week on fears that the Apple iPhone X has met an early demise. By all indications, the Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have been selling well, but margins on those two models are lower than the amount Apple reaps on the slumping iPhone X.

Apple shares hit an all-time high of $183.50 on March 12th ...

Samsung Galaxy A6 (2018) shows up in official how-to video guide

It's not every day that we get to watch a video about an unreleased Samsung smartphone. The most recent device that stars in a how-to video guide before even being announced is the Galaxy A6 (2018), one of the smartphones that made headlines quite a few times in the last few weeks.

The official-looking video seems to have been shot by Samsung Vietnam and shows some of the most important features the Galaxy A6 (2018) has to offer. Although we already knew that handset will sport a 5.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display, it's always nice to have the information confirmed ...

These Motorola Moto G6 and E5 variants will be sold in the US

Last week, Motorola Mobility announced no less than six new smartphones running Android 8 Oreo: Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6 Play, Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus, and Moto E5 Play. While some of these handsets are already available in markets like Brazil and Mexico, folks in the US can't buy them yet.

Motorola said that its new phones would be released in the US "in the coming months". However, not all models will be sold stateside. For example, US customers won't be able to purchase the most powerful among them - the Moto G6 Plus. So what is Motorola bringing stateside ...

Nokia X notched invitation confirms May 16 reveal

HMD Global is gearing up for the unveiling of one of its most controversial smartphones, the Nokia X. Although the handset was recently showcased in China, Nokia X hasn't been officially introduced yet, and that might not happen until mid-May.

The Finnish company is holding a 5-day event in Beijing, China, where it has all of its smartphones and feature phones showcased. However, aside from the devices that have already been launched on the market, HMD Global is displaying one that wasn't even announced yet, the Nokia X.

Worried about losing access to Android, Huawei has been building its own OS?

As you probably know by now, if it loses its last chance appeal with the U.S. government, Chinese smartphone manufacturer ZTE faces a life without U.S. exports until March 2025. That means it could have an immediate future without the Android OS, Snapdragon chips, and any other parts sourced from U.S. firms. Now, with word that the U.S. Justice Department is investigating Huawei for violating sanctions against Iran, the buzz out of China is that the company has been building a backup OS just for situations like this.

Actually, Huawei has a few reasons for worrying. Besides possibly losing ...

Lg puts the focus on audio with the G7 ThinQ

In a time where manufacturers are abandoning the headphone jack, LG has just announced several new features to appear in the upcoming G7 ThinQ. LG has been known for including quad-DACs in its phones. Those who love high-end headphones and audiophiles are always very appreciative of this feature. It is clear that a majority of music today comes from the smartphone. We power Bluetooth speakers with them at parties, we connect headphones to them at the gym and we connect to our vehicle's sound system when driving. LG recognizes this and is placing the focus on one of the things that move us, ...

The China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) gave the thumbs up to the Samsung SM-N9600 on March 21st of this year. That was followed up with approval for the SM-N9608 on April 24th, 2018, just a few days ago. Unfortunately, the documentation for both models does not include images or specs.

HTC U12+ with mirror-like finish & four cameras leaks out

A number of hands-on images appear to reveal the final design of HTC’s upcoming U12+. It has previously been reported that the Taiwan-based company would release just one flagship device this year that would aim to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S9+ and Huawei’s P20 Pro. And now, with rumors pointing towards a mid-May announcement, various leaked images reveal the device in its entirety.

As can be seen in the photos, HTC will follow the recent 18:9 display trend. Interestingly, however, it appears the company has chosen not to include a notch, instead opting for reduced top and bottom bezels. ...

The Best Ecommerce Tools To Use For Your 1-Year Checkup

Although owning an eCommerce store is a rewarding and exciting business venture and incredibly demanding. In the first 2-3 years of an endeavor, every owner will likely attest to the fact that they rarely get any sleep; the days are long and stressful, and you’ll be learning as you go.

But, if you reach your 1-year anniversary with enough sales to keep going and stay motivated for another year, there are a few things you’ll have to think about with regards to your site.

If you’re not thinking of changing your ecommerce software but simply wish to see how your site is measuring up, there are many online tools that help to keep your ecommerce website functioning well. These are a few of our picks.

Best eCommerce Tools

Looking at Your Website Speed

A slow page loading time doesn’t just affect your search engine rankings, customers also have very little patience for it.

Around three seconds is said to be the maximum waiting time for a page to load, and if you’re not hitting that mark, then I highly suggest you check out the tools I have already discussed.

Other than the WordPress plugin and CDN providers mentioned in the article, you’ll definitely want to compress images, reduce the server response time, enable browsing caching, and prioritize above-the-fold content your site. Google’s own Pagespeed tool is also a must-use for checking how fast your site loads.

Inspecting Your SSL Certificate

Earlier this year, Google released a statement regarding the unsafe SSL certificates provided by long-standing software company Symantec. When the biggest search engine in the world has to step in and sort out Symantec’s issues, you know that online security has become a big deal.

In fact, Google is actually in the process of penalizing your site with a “Not Secure” tag in the browser if your site doesn’t have an SSL – that’s serious stuff for an eCommerce site.

Symantec claims that it will clean up its act in the meantime and get things sorted, but if you need more proof than that, it’s also easy enough to utilize an SSL Checker ToolUse this to enter your URL into the search bar, then not long afterward, you’ll receive a report that will state if the SSL is installed correctly and if any potential security gaps are present.

Visitors’ Viewing Behavior

Although it’s not a completely foolproof method of feedback concerning your visitors’ viewing behavior on your site, Heatmap Tools are still a useful weapon to have in your arsenal.

It’s very helpful to literally see data like how far people are scrolling on the page, which links are being clicked the most, and conversely, which areas are being avoided.

Understanding what are the least popular areas of your site can let you know if major changes are needed. Are there too many distracting elements? Does your content need to be improved? Is there a difference between desktop and mobile users of your site? A heatmap can tell you.

Finding a free heatmap isn’t easy, but there are a few options listed here which at least offer a complimentary trial. Crazy Egg, Lucky Orange, and ClickTale are considered some of the best in the biz. A heatmap alone won’t be the savior of your ecommerce checkup, but when used in tandem with the other tools, you’ve got some very useful data to visualize.

MUST READ: Setting up Payment Gateway for eCommerce Site

Some Basic Tips for New eCommerce Owners

  • All your writings should be proofed for spelling, grammar and punctuation errors
  • Business contact details should be easily found
  • Your site should have responsive design
  • All forms should submit data correctly
  • Add Alt tag to your images
  • Customers should receive a ‘Thank you for your purchase’ email.

Of course, your 1-year site anniversary checkup doesn’t have to end there, as there are many more small things that eCommerce owners will have to look at – as stated before, you’ll rarely sleep and there is a lot of stress! However, if you genuinely love what you do and the things you sell, then all the pain and pressure will be worth it in the end.

New Twitter feature highlights news links tweeted by members you follow

Twitter has a new feature that highlights in your timeline, links to news stories that are tweeted by those subscribers you follow. The tweets that contain the link are posted underneath. If you have read Twitter lately, you'll understand why it is focusing so much on news. The US vs. THEM mentality that has divided the U.S. is quite apparent on the site. News links are constantly being tweeted and Twitter even streams live news when conditions warrant it.

Twitter's new feature dovetails with its 2016 switch in app stores from a listing under the "social networking" category to "news." In ...

Do you remember this phone that ushered us into the age of industrial designs?

When it comes to smartphone designs, HTC has been one of the forerunners early on prior to the smartphone boom we've seen post iPhone. With every new announcement, it seemed as though the Taiwanese based company was unstoppable with its superb line of smartphones, offering consumers unmatchable phones that were consistently regarded as ahead of their time. HTC's brand recognition, was without a doubt, only beginning to rise during the late 2000s.

Enter the HTC Touch Diamond, released in the summer of 2008 to much acclaim for its then cutting-edge specs and jaw dropping design. Compared ...
