Twitter Lite app is made for countries where connectivity costs a fortune or is hard to find

Twitter is testing a new "lite" version of its Android app. This is an app version of a mobile web site it launched earlier this year called, quite appropriately, Twitter Lite. It requires less mobile data to work. The idea is to allow mobile users to employ Twitter in emerging markets where data is expensive or hard to find. The app has been added to the Google Play Store, but only in the Philippines where mobile data is expensive and slow.
