Microsoft confirms support for classic Skype will end on November 15

As Microsoft continues to add new features and improvements to Skype version 8, the classic app will be phased out. It's a move that makes sense as Microsoft wants to focus on the more popular app.

Today, Microsoft announced that Skype version 7 will be discontinued on November 1, on desktop devices and November 15, on mobile and tablet devices. The Redmond based company will no longer offer support for Skype versions 7 and below.
